UPDATE: Tire Disposal Location
The Tire Round Up can be considered a success! The location drop-off on Ohio Street was quickly filled this weekend. This effort in conjunction with surrounding participating communities, were an effort to curb illegal dumping of tires and provide a safe and effective way to properly dispose and recycle the unused tires. This effort eliminates the following:
- Pests and Insects
- Environmental Impacts
- Visual Appearance and Cleanliness

The City of Mercedes together with the Lower Rio Grande Development Council and participating communities in the Rio Grande Valley will be having an annual Tire Collection/Disposal . Each Homeowner will be allowed a limit of 4-6 tires. No Commercial Dumping will be allowed.
DATE: Saturday 28, 2018
TIME: 9 am-12 pm
IDENTIFICATION — Proof of residency within collection area site required (driver’s license, utility bill, etc.)
RESTRICTIONS — 4-6 tires per household limit, no tractor or oversized tires
COST — Free!
