Mercedes Historic Preservation Commission Plaque

You can honor the heritage and special status of your business with an official Mercedes Historic Preservation Commission Plaque. This distinguished plaque, authorized by the historical society of Mercedes, will remind both new and longtime customers of the rich heritage they are a part of and help celebrate the many contributions made to the vitality of the community and to the state of Texas.

To apply for the Mercedes Historic Preservation Commission Milestone Aware please complete the application. Review and approval of application may take 2 to 4 weeks.

If approved your plaque will be custom-made with your business name and founding date. Plaques are sturdy cast aluminum and measure 15" x 20". The plaque costs $329 and can be mounted either inside or outdoors.

Mercedes Historic Preservation Commission Milestone Criteria

• Have been in continuous for-profit operation in Mercedes for 50, 75, 100 or 125 years.
• Continue to operate the same or very similar type of business as it did at least 50 years.
• Have a continuous record of employment for at least the past 50 years.
• Continue to operate as an independent for-profit business (i.e., it cannot be operating as a subsidiary of or have been absorbed into another business)
• Maintain a good business relationship with the state.
• Independent documentation supporting founding date (e.g. city directories, newspapers, or company records)
