About Mercedes Fire/EMS

The Mercedes Fire Department was established in May of 1909. 100 years later in May of 2019, the Mercedes Fire Department began its EMS operations, filling a deeply felt void in the community by providing ALS level emergency medical services to our community and surrounding areas. Our current response district is comprised of approximately 74.8 square miles covering not only the City of Mercedes, but also surrounding county areas. The department maintains 7 personnel certified in fire and EMS on duty at all times, operating 3 shifts, each working 24 consecutive hours to ensure the safety of our community. We also maintain an experienced and community focused volunteer firefighter roster that is key to our success.

Our Future:

The Mercedes Fire Department strives to provide the highest level of fire protection and medical care to the citizens of the City of Mercedes and surrounding areas. Through continuous training, investment in the latest equipment and apparatus (often through grant funding), and improvement of medical care protocols, our department will continue to rise above the standard. Whether a lifelong resident or just passing through to visit one of our great attractions, rest assured that the Mercedes Fire Department has your safety and well being as our top priority!
