Citizen Collection Station

CCS’ are temporary holding facilities sanctioned by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality where citizens can take their household waste and store it until it can be hauled to a final Municipal Solid Waste disposal facility (Landfill). The facility is open to all Citizens of Mercedes to conveniently and legally dispose of its domestic waste. 

NO CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION MATERIAL ACCEPTED (includes household and commercial waste)

Hours of Operation

• Friday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Saturday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Closed Monday through Thursday, Sunday and all Holidays.

Rules

• Double-axle trailers or larger are not allowed.
• Unloading shall be done by resident (be prepared to dispose into a 7 foot high roll off)

Acceptable Items

• Household trash
• Bulky items (furniture, appliances)
• Tires without rims (limit 4 per year)
• Yard waste
• Used electronics 

Prohibited Waste

• Household Hazardous Waste (Oil, solvents, paint, refrigerants, fertilizers, pesticides/herbicides, anti-freeze, pool chemicals, etc.)
• Commercial waste/debris
• Construction and demolition waste/debris (includes household and commercial) dirt, rocks, roofing material, insulation, etc.
• Radioactive waste
• Industrial or agriculture waste
• Explosive/ammunition
• Business generated waste
• Commercial hazardous waste

Must provide proof of address within the City Limits and a Valid I.D. or D.L. with address.
