City of Mercedes provides a community pool for the public during the Summer period. The Mercedes Recreation Center maintains the pool throughout the year with the help of Public Works Department; To provide a safe, fun and clean public pool.

Swimming Pool Info

Public Operation: 
  • Location: 701 Mathis St ( Collier Complex) 
  • Months: June/July/August 
  • Days: Tuesday-Friday ( Closed on City holidays) 
  • Time: 1:00pm-4:00pm 

Lifeguard Info

Prerequisites:
Age: 15 years old by April 26th, 2020
Swim test: swim 300 meters (crawl stroke/ breast stroke)
Tread test: tread water 2 minutes
Brick test: swim 20 yards, retrieve 10 lb brick from pool floor, swim back to starting point with the brick
Completion Requirements:
Two written exams
Practical Skills Test
Cost:
$125 due by April 20th
Includes: pocket resuscitation mask, whistle, and    e-textbook
Hard copy of text book available with refundable $35 deposit
