Vitals Statistics Fee:

The fee for a Certified Birth Certificate is $23.00 dollars, plus $1 for the document holder.
The fee for a Certified Death Certificate is $21.00 dollars and $4.00 dollars for extra certified copies, plus $1 for the document holder.
A search fee of $23.00 is applied if record not found.
PAYMENT ACCEPTED: CREDIT CARDS, CASH OR CHECKS ONLY.

Birth/Death Certificate Applications

The City of Mercedes City Secretary’s Office maintains all birth and death records that occurred within the City of Mercedes. The City Secretary’s Vital Statistics Office receives, records and issues birth and death certificates, amendments to birth and death certificates, name changes, court ordered adoptions and burial transit permits.

Proof of Eligibility

Each applicant must present a valid primary form of identification along with their application. If the applicant is unable to present a valid primary form of identification, two secondary forms of identification are required – one of which bears the applicant’s signature.

How much is a Birth Certificate?

Birth Certificates are $23.00 each plus $1 for document holder

How do I get a Death Certificate?

We only have death certificates for people that died inside the city limits of Mercedes. You can come by the office at 400 S. Ohio Ave. or send the completed form to:

How much is a Death Certificate?
