The City of Mercedes rely on the people of USW Utility Group for water and wastewater system and staff optimization; contract operations and maintenance of Lift Stations, Distribution Pumps, and our Water Towers; they work closely with City Administration, Public Works, and help us look for community development – all backed by a commitment to safety, quality, innovation, and customer service.

The City of Mercedes contracted USW Utility Group to operate and maintain its water and wastewater treatment plants starting on the first day of January of 2021.

The City’s drinking water originates from a canal fed by the Rio Grande River and is supplemented with a City well when needed. The potable water treatment plant can treat 5.5 million gallons per day (mgd). Finished water is stored in three clearwells and two water towers. The 2.3-mgd wastewater treatment plant uses activated sludge and secondary treatment technologies.
