Code Compliance
Code Compliance
Code Compliance Division
Overview
Under the City’s Planning Department, the Code Compliance Department is responsible for enforcing many City Ordinances related but not limited to zoning violations, accumulation of debris/trash, illegal signs, illegal dumping, weedy lots, on-street parking, and abandoned/junk vehicles.
The City’s Code Compliance officers respond to potential violations of these City Ordinances and when a violation is identified, the responsible parties are contacted, educated, and requested to abate/correct the violation and come into compliance.
If the respondent fails to comply with the City codes/ordinances, the City issues a warning to the violator giving the respondent every opportunity to voluntarily comply. If voluntary compliance cannot be achieved and is unwilling the final action would be a citation issued and forwarded to the municipal court for prosecution.
