Digital Learning

The Library holds regular Digital Skills classes that teach learners a variety of information. A total of 3 subject courses are available in a rotation schedule throughout the year. For those who which to start at the beginning, a Basic Computer Skills course is available. An advanced course is available for those who wish to hone their Microsoft Word & Google Suites skills. Lastly, we now hold a Telephone Basics course that touches on Telehealth topics.

Our trained Digital Navigators are also available for one-on-one appointments where they can assist learners with more specific questions. They assist with topics like:

• Setting up a new device (like a smartphone) 
• Accessing websites and online accounts
• Basic email and social media 
• Obtaining a low-cost device or connecting to the internet
• Using, saving, and editing files
• And more!

A brief history on our Digital Learning program:

The classes were originally created through funding from a grant provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services through a grant to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in 2022. Due to demand, the classes have continued through various grants (including the Ladd & Katherine Hancher Foundation & MHM Digital Equity) as we strive for digital equity for our community.
