Our Library has multiple events which are free to the public. Every month is something new so make sure to visit our website or Facebook often to see what program may be of interest to you.

Program Descriptions

The Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Library has various programs occurring throughout the year for children, teens, and adults. Below you can find a list of our regular programming, but make sure to check on the Event Calendars for exact date and times.

Storytime!

All ages are welcome to join us as we read a new book every week in our Program Room on Tuesdays at 5:30 P.M.

Craft Time

Explore your creative side with fun and easy to follow along crafts. Parents are welcome to pick up craft materials, via curbside. Please check the calendar below for specific dates and times.

STEAM

Each month, we will have an educational activity that focuses on developing critical thinking skills and expands on a child’s curiosity. Please check the calendar below for specific dates and times.

Book Club

Who joins Book Clubs??? Just about anyone can join a book club!!! Here are some reasons why you would want to join a book club. When you LOVE reading, but sometimes you need that extra push to finish a book. Want to talk about your theory on how a book will end. Maybe you just want someone to talk to about your progress in the book. Either way, joining a book club has many perks; from gaining new friends to interacting with people in general. We all need a way to connect to each other, so consider challenging yourself to picking up a new book and joining us for fun discussions as we analyze the current read.

For the month of January, we will be reading The Mountain King by Anders de la Motte. Book Club will meet on January 29th, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.

LEAP

We are proud to announce the implementation of the Library Explorer Adventure Pack (LEAP)! Sponsored by Driscoll Health Plan, the library has officially launched the program as of Spring Break 2023. With LEAP, patrons may check out special backpacks in one of ten different themes containing a variety of books, guides, nature tools, and other cool goodies meant to teach it’s user more about the great outdoors. These backpacks are to be checked out for a two week period and brought back for others to enjoy.

Christmas at the Library

The Dr. Hector P. Garcia Library invites you to a day filled with Holiday Spirit! Don your coziest pajamas and enjoy free food, music, crafts, movies, & a visit from SANTA CLAUS!
