CLARIFICATION ON WATER BILL PAYMENTS

Last week, Management instructed Utility Billing that there are to be no disconnects to water meters due to needful non-payment.  Mercedes families need to wash their hands (with soap) thus the practical need to keep running water in households during this season of a serious health threat.

Management’s instruction is designed for those citizens that cannot readily pay their water bill during this temporary tenure of risk.

Management’s instruction was not intended, nor did any ‘Notice’ indicate, that citizens are ‘not to pay their water bill’.  If a service is provided, the just thing to do is to pay for that service (via the water meter service contract).

If a water meter holder finds themselves in a financial predicament during this COVID-19 Declaration stage, the meter will not be disconnected.  However, the monthly cost will be rolled-over to the next month with the expectation that the fee will be paid by the consumer.  If arrangements to pay are necessary, the citizens needs to confer directly with Utility Billing so that the water meter account will eventually be transitioned from a delinquent to a current account.

Thank you for your understanding and compliance.
