NOTICE- Be aware of Persons Pretending to be City Employees

PUBLIC ‘SAFETY’ NOTICE

(March 18, 2020)

It has come to the attention of the City of Mercedes that there are persons pretending to be City employees requesting entry to Mercedes’ residences in order to ‘test the water’.  DO NOT ALLOW THIS THESE PEOPLE INSIDE YOUR HOME!  Be advised that the City nor its agents are performing any such testing.  When occasional testing is required, please keep the following in mind:

• A water test sample is taken from an exterior faucet.
• City Staff doing water testing will always provide advance notice and scheduling.
• IF a city worker does approach your home, feel free to request their City of Mercedes work order, credentials, etc.

Should you be approached with such a request, you may call the Public Works Department at (956) 565-6147; or call the Police Department at (956) 565-3102.
